hey guys as some of you know i have been having issues with my 90 coupe but now i got a weird one.

here in the past few weeks it has been shutting off and NOT cranking back up.

EX: today i drove it around town for about 2 hours. was low on gas so i went to the service staton filled it up and it wouldnt start up. the last time this happened i move the car to cut grass and after moving it it wouldnt start back up. but in both cases after sitting over night they fired right up.

the first time it happened it ran for about 30 seconds so i dont think it is heat related but it might be. ive had TFI modules heat up go bad and make it run like crap but never not start up. Any ideas? let me her them . thanks in advance.

Have you checked fuel pressure when it is not starting. Ive had fuel pumps intermitently fail.

So it doesn't crank? If so look at your starter my friend. I had one that would heat up and crap out till it cooled down.

also check the relay on the fender. also check the wire going to the starter for corrosion.

Also check to make sure you have a really good battery ground to the block. Make sure all your connections are clean and tight.

I also second the idea of the stock starters sucking when they get hot. You should really look into a PMGR starter from a 94-95. My car always starts when hot now. even with longtubes.

sounds to me like you are going to have to go through the dreaded crank but no startcheck list.

well keep the print in the car along with your multi meter, code reader, some tools and do it when it happens.

glad you brought this back up. i have for the last few days and its happened everyday. i tried to crank it alot and started smelling gas kinda heavy. so i mash the pedal to the floor to cu tthe injectors off and after a few turns it starts right up. so i have found out its flooding down. thats why after sitting over night it fires right up.

so my next question is why does it randomly flood the engine down at start up? the ONLY codes im getting are EGR codes because of the explorer intake. im lost. and remember its only flooding out randomly. and everytime it doesnt start i imediatly hold my foot the floor and it pops.

I had an adjustable fuel pressure regulator that had a busted disk and it leaked gas into the intake while It was cranking. I would have to flood start often. I pulled the vac line that runs to the regulator and found gas squirting out full stream from the regulator.

well it does it when the car is cold too. a TFI module will give you problems when the car is brought up to temperature. I THINK. but it is a point to check and thank you for your advice.
