yea.. you do have a good point.. will save quite a bit of $$$ .. only reason he did it is b/c he wanted something loud and we have emissions every yr in GA and he didn't want all the hassle.

thats a good reason, but you wouldnt even get close to passing emissions with that in cali

i say hell with it though, run straight headers

I personally have heard that on the modular motors, it would hurt your motor by not having enough back pressure, plus ive heard a GT before like you want and I think it sounds like a farm truck....

Don't get just any old truck horn ... you need a train horn. My buddy has one on his Kenworth and it does sound exactly like a train coming. That will go perfect with your straight pipes. Oh, and also make sure you run a couple (at least 5") stacks up both sides of your car too. Show us some pics when you're all done, ok?

P.S. Don't forget to buy the little flappers for the top of both stacks, it'll keep the water out if you have to park it out in the rain. Finish it off with a good pair of those naked lady mudflaps too. Truck on dude!

To all that have actually had real opinions, I thank you, I am thinking about open long tube headers (kooks) to be exact. I think that cutouts on my existing set up could be an option as well. To all of you others that have had no respect for the actual question and have made snide remarks, piss off.

cutting out mufflers and welding in straight pipe is dyno proven to lose horsepower and kill low end torque. 5.0 magazine did a muffler shootout a while back (the issue with the purple saleen on the cover) and they threw in the straight pipe combo just to see what would happen.

oh and it sounds like ass too.

buy a good set of electric cutouts so you don't have to be loud ALL the time. Trust me, it will get on your nerves. I've driven interstate and around town driving open o/r x pipe before and it was just rediculous.

At least run an X or H and even the pulses out and pipe it all the way to the back so it carries the loudest part of the sound out to the back of the car. When I was young and crazy I ran my 68 428 with long tubes H pipe and stock resonators only. It was LOUD. You'll have every cop in town looking for you cuz they'll hear you from a mile away when you aren't putting your foot in it. Think about the cutouts.

Is your Cobra a daily driver, or for racing only ?

I / (we probably) just don't see how it's reasonable to make that much noise around town all the time is all. Don't take offense to it we're just messin' with you anyway, but seriously you probably will loose RWHP w/o mufflers. Too little backpressure probably is not good, and the sound most likely will be awfull. Why do that to a bran new sweet @$$ car ?

Get longtubes, a new matching o/r X, and get striaght through mufflers. Magnapacks will be pretty damn loud w/ that set up, and sound awesome. Promise you'll gain RWHP too over your current exhaust set up.

That's my exhaust set up on my 00 2V but not packs, I have regular Magnaflows (not as loud). It sounds amazing, and I picked up 18 RWHP over my previous Magnaflow catted X by adding the LT's, and o/r X ONLY.

BTW - I do want the electric cut outs just behind my LT's too, but I'll seldom use them so I'll wait on the price to some down.

i hope you are not saying you had a 98 vert with those mods running 13.9 @ 100 , cause that is some major if that is what you are saying. and then that would also mean the last sentence in your post is the only correct one
