Off Topic - My post count???

I'm chilled.

Just wondering why you guys and people in general care about it. I have heard lots of complaints on this and other forums. It's somewhat interesting to hear why this is can be or is a big deal for some people.

Duner, if you put a number on ANYTHING, people will race:nice:

But seriously, why is there a post counter if it dont count posts? Do those with a high post count know more than us that prefer to stay quiet (ok, thats not me, but you know what I mean!)?

In my opinion, we should do away with post count and get a reputation system started. Give someone rep points when (IF) they say something smart.

This is not necessarily directed at you whoever you are  :D

I can't speak for the owner (Mike) so this is my opinion. The primary purpose of this site is a technical discussion of the Mustang therefore the posts in the technical forums count. The non-technical forums were created to keep the chitchat and BS out of the tech forums.

I look at the post count, on this site, as a user’s level of active participation in the tech forums because that’s all it means. It’s obviously not a measure of someone’s knowledge.

A non-car forum I frequent counts every post. On there you get a crap load of meaningless posts. There are hundreds of users with post counts in the several thousand range and most of their posts are just a frowny face.

In my opinion, we should do away with post count and get a reputation system started. Give someone rep points when (IF) they say something smart.

That's not a bad idea if it was implemented in the early days. It’s too late now. As you know you can't make everyone happy and a major change like that would cause a poop load of :fuss:

Well on that note duner, id just like to say that my big wheel is faster than your big wheel.
