Lots more races to go. Nothing bad about grabbing third at Daytona. Could have ended up like Gordon. Guess he has to wait one more year to grab that elusive Daytona 500 win.

boring? It was pretty exciting for a plate race. There usually aren't many lead changes or passes on plate races.

only 1 dodge and 1 chevy in the top 10.. that's pretty surprising!

Dodges are coming on strong

I saw the first 20 laps and the last 17. What happened to Jeff and Jimmie?

jeff had a suspension part fail and Jimmie got loose and took it in the rear from Juan. he spun out, but the COT recovered well. Fixed it up, got back out, but didn't get the lucky dog since it was less then 10 laps or whatever. Finished 25 or 26

awesome race! I hate Daytona, but it was exciting. Lots of passing. There were parts of the race where the leader would have 5 or 6 car lengths on the pack. It was crazy!

:edit: Jimmie got hit by Hornish, Juan took out Bowyer

Jr had a top 5, if not top 3 car almost all race long... at least from what I saw before the tornado hit! From the recaps I've been able to watch it appears his final pit strategies are what kept him from finishing much higher. Still, finishing in the top 10 is nothing to sneeze at... and he was the highest finishing HMS car.

5 hrs after the original start of the race they have run around 30 laps between rain delays and red flags. Call this race a wash out. If this is anymore then a very brief shower then this race is over for today.

So what's with all the F1 drivers that have jumped to nascar?

I was just reading about how 4 more of them made the switch this year (Franchitti, Hornish Jr, Carpentier, Villenevue or however you spell that), after seeing the success of Montoya.

Is there a reason for that? Is Formula 1 going down the tubes or something?

Money. It's a fact that NASCAR drivers on average make more money than any other race car series driver. The marketing tie-ins for NASCAR are HUGE!

he wasn't taken out by Mears... he was a victim of a bad decision by NASCAR to drive on a WET track, just like Mears.

At least Jr will still get to make up some points

It's not the "purse" for winning the race that garners a NASCAR driver all the big money... it's the sponsorship deals and all the merchandising. Think about it.... You say Jeff Gordon and I think f..a..g.. er I mean DuPont. You say Earnhardt and I think either Goodwrench or Budweiser. When someone mentions the names Franchitti, Hornish Jr, Carpentier, or Villenevue what product comes to mind?

Don't confuse or lump together IRL & Champ car with Formula 1 it's like equating ARCA with the Cup series.

I pretty sure that F1 drivers make as much or more than cup drivers and have the endorsements as well. The same can't be said for the IRL/Champ car drivers.
