OIL coming out the header WTF?

What does this mean. I need help fast my Prom is on the 20th of this month and I am taking the stang so If I need to do any head work or internal work I need to do it now. My buddy said it was my piston rings? I dont know but I got 7 days and counting to get this old girl running right. The car is overheating I was going to a car show but had to turn around and come back home because I was in bad traffic and it went from 180 to 220 in no time. I am thinking of just getting a set of new heads and get a big fan to put in there. It was in the 60's today not a hot day at all.

wells theres also the possibility that the valve guides are shot putting oil into the chamber which could also put oil in the headers. does the motor have enough oil in it that will also cause it to overheat.

Are you sure oil is comming out of the headers? If oil was leaking into your cylinders, from bad rings, valve seals or whatever, it would be burnt in the combustion of the cylinder. Were do you see the oil leaking? Also, how is 220 overheating? It's high of course, but you only really start to run into problems at 260+.

It is possible for unburned oil to come from the exhaust headers. It happens when oil fouls out the plug and the compostion no loger is hot enough to burn it. I recommend doing a vacuum test to first see if you have a problem, and then a leak down test to see where it is.
