I have a 1967 Mustang with a 200 ci six with auto trans. I have owned it for 4 years and when checking this year I notices a white film on top of anti-freeze in the radiator. Changed hoses and flushed system. After driving around for a few miles, checked and white film present again. I believe I have oil getting into the coolant. What is the most common cause. Hoping it's just a head gasket.
Thanks,

Bud

Yes the most common cause is a head gasket and more likely what is going on with yours. Next would be a cracked head and then the dreaded cracked block. However, you should be getting water in your oil as well. What happens is when you shut down your engine and there is now oil pressure then the pressure from the coolant being hot will force coolant into the oil system.
How much film are you talking about? Did you use a flush product or just water? This could be left over residue from previous work?

Thanks. I did change the oil and did not notice any anti-freeze in the oil when it came out. Someone informed me that it could be from the trans meaning the cooler lines in the radiator are leaking. Also said it would be more of a strawberry color. I assume this could be a possibility too.
