Im getting oil burning out of the mufflers and i can also see oil dripping out of them' afew of my sparkplugs look like charcoal on the tips and on my drivers side head the header gasket looks like its coated with oil' i recently had the top end done on the car by a shop' i don't want to go back there and try to fix the problem myself but need alittle bit of help' before this the car did not smoke at all but right after the mods it smokes alot of blue. Things that i had replaced on the car were heads ' cam 'cam lifters and pushrods' all gaskets on the car are new. where should i start to look ' so far i have as much as the upper intake off along with fuel rails ' ill be taking off the lower sometime tomorrow had see whats up . Also my air temp sensor is all oiled up. Heres acouple of pics of some of the oil. Also the car likes to backfire.

When does it smoke out of the tail pipe?

WOT?

Decel while in gear (engine braking)?

After a long idle period?

On hot start?

WOT it smokes like a chimminy' on start up it does not smoke but just after it warms up it will smoke . Im just wondering what ill find when i take off the lower intake ' could it be a gasket problem or is it possible that the lower is not seated properly and is sucking oil up into the ports causing smoke' remember before all these mods went on there was no blue smoke what so ever.

new cobra intake?? did the shop install the updated baffle in the lower intake?? If they did not its most likely your problem, it will pull oil through the pcv.

Since it was fine before the work, I'd check these in order:

1) a 885.0 said, PCV sucking oil.
2) Lower intake gaskets shifted during install
3) Valve guides

Thanks guys ' i did make an oil catch can going from the pvc to the intake and did catch a small amount of oil ' tomorrow ill check out the gasket and see where im at ' if the lower intake does not give me awnsers i think ill be looking at a bottom end rebuild.

Its a real cobra upper with an 96 explorer lower with the not so updated baffles. I was thinking of making my own but i forget what they look like.

Got off the lower ' while taking off the lower intake bolts i can tell they were not torqued down cause they seemed hand tight ' i know this cause before i had took off my stock upper and replaced it with a cobra ' i also found a pool of oil sitting in # 6 intake port' could this where my problem be is an improper torque of my lower intake causing blue smoke .

if you paid a shop to do the work, you should have made them fix it for you.
