oil in upper intake,egr spacer and tb?????

i am in the process of pulling my upper intake so i can change injectors..when i got the TB off,there was a puddle of oil sitting in the egr spacer and in the neck of the intake.what would cause oil to get up there??i know there was a thread similar to this awhile back but i couldnt find it...any help would be greatly appriciated.

this is a very common problem with 5.0 mustangs it is most often caused by 1- blowbye, 2- Inoperative PCV valve and or clogged screen, 3- lack of a baffle on either the valve cover or on the pcv side of things..... some oil getting in the intake is normal, when the oil gets hot it gives off vapors and their are also bye-products of combustion that will work their way into the oil...these inturn will be sucked out of the crankcase to be burned in the engine. A little is normal...try changing your pcv valve and screen and see if it gets better.

The common denominator is usually the use of the Cobra intake.I was losing oil like crazy,my intake had lots of oil in it and I was blowing smoke out my exhaust. I tried all kinds of solutions suggested on this site and others.This included the oil separator bandaid etc.Some say it is due to blowby,my mechanic thinks it is the design/placement of the intake baffle causing a vacuum.My rebuilt engine (approx. 500 miles) has 170-180 compression on all cylinders and the leakdown test showed 8% leakage on the worst cylinder. In any case, my mechanic redirected the Pcv flow into my valve cover instead of the intake and that was the end of that problem.He says this is how GM commonly does it from the factory anyway.

That is the same problem i had with mine but i deleted the pcv system all together, And went to a dual breather setup with a crossover tube into a catch can....less than ideal setup considering having a pcv system is a good idea just for the better ring seal, but it works great and the engine runs stronger than it ever has. I don't think he said he was running a cobra intake though....the fact that he said EGR Spacer points to another intake.

I have the same problem but i have a cobra intake. Its gotten to the point where i'm getting so much oil that its annoying to drive becuase the throttle body sticks so bad.

On the suggestions of other people on here i've replaced the intake gaskets and made sure the intake had a baffle.

Right now i have the crossover from the valve cover to the tb disconnected and left the vc side open. This has helped alot but im still looking for a permanent solution.
