Oil on spark plug

My engine light came on so I went to autozone and found I had a misfire on cylinder 2 and 5. I bought 2 plugs, replaced plug on cylinder 2 which looked fine, the plug on cylinder 5 had oil on it when i took out. The oil was on the tip of the plug , the part that actually goes into the head. Anyone had this problem or know what it could be?

Oily coating caused by poor oil control. Oil is leaking past worn valve guides, piston rings, or on some race engines a possible intake gasket leak and then entering the combustion chamber.

Check for worn valve guides (NEVER knurl valve guides), intake gasket sealing alignment, as well as worn cylinder walls and piston rings. A leak down test is a good place to start for what is causing this.

Do u have a 32v DOHC? U didnt say what kind of stang u have. On my old 97 Cobra the valve cover gaskets & sparkplug seals were leaking oil into the sparklug holes. Not sure if the sohc's have the same problem though.

If the oil was on the THREADS of the spark plug, you could have a major problem such as bad rings or worn valves. How many miles are on the car? What mods do you have done to it? What oil are you running?

I would stop what you are doing and compression test the car to see where the problem is. If you find one low cylinder, poor a teaspoon of oil into it, and recheck the compression. If the compression shoots up, the rings are bad. You should also perform a leak down test.
