ok it's a long story but i'm having problems with oil pan clearance from the oil pump and the oil pickup with my stock pan. it's putting quite a damper on my project so far and i don't have 300 to get a canton like i planned. so i turned to my handy dany uncle who has been racing his whole life and now has a custom bike shop. he said that he use to build oil pans for his race car and he has alot of tools for bending/welding etc. metal because of the bike shop so he told me he would build me a custom pan. but i have to have one to get the demensions and make sure it's going to fit. ok so i guess what i'm asking is if anyone has one or knows a link i can get to get deminsions. i have the stock pan like i said to make the fit but it's going to be a 7 quart so i wanted to see if there was a website with demensions. thanks for any help

If you don't want to use the one on your car, then try and get one from a junk yard. Or try ebay. It will be so much easier to fabricate a new pan with the old one as a reference. You are looking for the blueprint of the pan so you know where all the bolt holes are...not something to guess at. Try and find a used pan, or even a damaged pan would do...surely someone on here has thrown a rod through their pan and would send it to you for the cost of the shipping.

I thought you just needed the pattern. Your Uncle should be able to fashion a 7 qt pan using the stocker as a reference...He shouldn't need an actual 7 qt pan. Clearence issues can be managed by taking measurements on the car-steering, K member etc. He will have to fab something up first. If you want to fashion a clone, you might get away with getting the specs from a dealer like Canton. They just might tell you the diminsions of the lower part of the pan. Just tell them you have a lot of custom modifications and want to make sure their 5.0 mustang 7 qt pan will clear. Might work.
