Oil Pan Issue

I have recently purchased a 94 mustang GT that I am restoring...its in pretty rough shape as far as the body goes but i noticed that the oil pan appears to have been JB welded. Should i put an OEM back on or swap for an aftermarket seems though i already have it off. If so what should i be looking for in an aftermarket oil pan?

Ever have the oil pump changed in the motor... the melling high volumes are a little taller and split my pan on the same corner...

I just dont want you to put another stock pan on and also have it crack...

If there is a HV pump in there and there is not alot done to the car id buy a stock melling pump and a new stock pan.

not sure on the oil pump havent tore into it yet im in iraq for another month or so but i will check it out when i return.

mine was JB welded by the PO. haven't looked at it but I will probably swap the pan out sometime this year when I put heads on it.

A factory replacement oil pan is pretty affordable. Just put a factory replacement oil pump in there and a new oil pan. Unless you are getting some serious performance out of it, a big sump oil pan like a Canton just means buying more oil each oil change.

Exacly iirc a new melling 68 was like $17-$22

get this pan! great for stock replacement and very affordable. I went this route for the first car and was very happy, the 2nd pan was RR Pan and it needed modification and was pain in the butt.

I thought it was $175...Man that's cheap for aftermarket oil pan, You can get that same pan for cheaper from summit or jegs.

Aftermarket cost more money but you get what you pay for and it will be better for later if you mod the car
