As i was waxing my car today I noticed oil puddled where it was sitting in the garage so I looked under it and saw that it was starting to form another where it was sitting now. Its a very slow leak but I want to change the pan to be safe.

My question is, is there a way to remove and replace the oil pan without removing the whole motor?'

Thats what Ive read. Im not enthused about having to pull the whole motor but I will do it since it looks like the best option.

Pan gasket failures are not common. Where exactly do you see the drop forming?

+1, it may just need a new gasket. You can drop it enough to get a new gasket in. Felpro makes a nice one piece with steel reinforments that usually come with a set of plastic dowel pin type hangers that go into the pan mounting screw holes and will hold the gasket in place while the pan is raised into place. You can also gain a few inches of clearance if you use a hoist/cherry picker and unbolt each motor mount bolt on each side and raise the motor a bit

Hoist motor, Pull rack forward, and you can get it off.
