Just a quck question about an oil leak.

Is it possible for an oil leak on the oil pan of an 88 mustang GT to run back and drip off of the front of the transmission?

Thanx!

I would probably see it dripping off the oil pan as well when it is parked right? The only place I see oil dripping from is the front and back of my tranmission, but I know that the valve covers a leaking and need to be replaced, but I have a shop telling me that my oil pan is leaking as well, but the only place I see oil drip from is the transmission. So I guess what I'm asking is that it is pretty much imposible for the oil pan to be leaking and the only place it drips is the transmission right? If the oil pan were leaking it would probably run down and drip from the plug when its parked as well would it not?

Thanx!

I have had a front oil pan seal leak in my last car coat a big portion of my undecarriage over time. I would get a second opinion if you don't trust the first, and do one of two things--get it fixed, or continually add oil for losses from the leak. It wouldn't necessarily drip while it is parked unless it is parked on a surface that isn't level i.e. uphill downhill. Again, I had a front pan seal leak in my last car and remedy for keeping it from leaking in the driveway....park nose up-hill.

The rear main has actually been replaced already and now the oil is coming from someplace else I had never noticed.
