oil pressure and oil questions

Just remember, if your tranny cooler and/or oil cooler are mounted in front of your radiator, then your radiator just became your oil/tranny cooler. Mount them in a way where the hot air coming off of them doesn't pass back over the radiator if you can, and preferably so that hot air doesn't enter the engine compartment.

im gonna go mount mine on the top of the windshield.

seriously, though you dont have a stang chassis Michael, any ideas on a good clean location for the cooler? i dont have one yet, so i dont have the dimensions. if i have room under the rad, i might angle it under there (i think you did something similar, IIRC). i would just be sure not to have it be the low point and all that.

and what did you do oil-temp gauge-wise? there is no way to incorporate the gauge into the plumbing for the cooler that i can think of. so that would leave tapping the sump? i really dont want to do that. i wonder if the low oil sender can be removed and that location used?

Send me your email address again and I'll send you pics of my install. Mine's angled below the car so the center opening on my air dam feeds air to it, and I fabricated an aluminum shield out of gutter flashing that keeps hot air off the backside of the oil cooler from re-entering the a/c condenser/radiator.

I put my oil temp. sender in the rear sump of the oil pan. You certainly don't want it on the outlet side of the cooler. They do make (for the volvo) sump drain plugs that double as a sender - that's worth exploring. Oil temp. is one of the many optional gauges that Volvo's came stock with. So mine's a factory VDO oil temp gauge and sender.

Mine runs at 90.... pretty much always at idle at 2000 rpm sometimes get to 100 never below 85. regular 302 oil pump in a 351 with the clevite 77 bearings.
