My friend has a 94 5.0 and all of a sudden the oil pressure gauge drops instantaneous below 1000rpm. It doesnt happen when the car is cold but when it warms up at the car dips below 1000rpm it falls right down to nothing super fast. It seems like its loosing pressure way too fast like the sender is the culprit. The car idles fine with the gauge says no pressure and their arent any different noises or anything. What could be up with this? The motor only has about 90,000km.

if its a stock guage then its the sender as the guage is really a dummy guage anyways

I have been having the exact same problem. When the engine is warm the oil pressure drops to 0 at idle. I replaced my oil sending unit and it didn't change my oil pressure at all!! I changed to a thicker motor oil though and it quit doing this. If your not hearing any noise when the oil pressure drops then it still has some oil pressure but the only way to know for sure is to put a mechanical gauge on it and check it when it's warm.
