chances are if you already have a knock its too late

Didnt you have an issue with something breaking off or going south the first time? IF some shavings went threw the system it wouldnt take much to kill some bearings.

prob. rod bearings, but crank bearings could also be messed up...hope its not but the rods seem to be the noise makers.

The rods connect to the piston and the crank.

connecting rods

The rods have bearings the hold a small wedge of oil to lube the surface to keep parts from grinding/getting hot/wearing. When the bearings go the gap is greater causing the parts to come into contact making a noise.

The crank has bearings at the mains for the same reason.

Just make sure you tell them, if you know, what you want done to the engine. Now is the time to do some research and asking of many questions so you can be at least a little educated on the engine building process. If Pops is paying for it and even if he wasn't, you want a forged bottom end at least the pistons.

bring it there, tell them the problems youve had and are having. tell them what you intend to get out of the car and a good shop should set you up well
