I was pulling my distributer out and some how that stupid washer thats on the oil pump shaft came off. I dont know where it went. I dropped the oil pan and was able to see in it and was able to fish around in it with my hand and a magnet and its nowwhere to be found. I turned the crank a few times and hopeing that maybe it was laying somewher up there and still nothing in the pan. Any ideas where this thing may have went to. I really dont want to pull the motor if I dont need to.

Get one of those extendable magnet wands and fish some more for it. I would think that it would be in the front sump somewhere.

That little washer has practically no weight to it. I would not be surprised in the slightest if it wasn't clinging to some oil somewhere above the pan.

Well I guess I am going to rool with it. I talked to a couple differn't repair speed shops and they say its a 50 50 shot but the pickup screen wont pick it up and its so small and thin that it wont hurt anything.

Always time to do it twice....but never time to do it right.

The washer is made out of metal, it is almost certain it will eventually start causing damage. Bouncing around and scratching the cylinder walls, nicking the crank while its rotating, all sorts of fun stuff.

Mine dropped off in 1988. That was about 40,000 miles ago. No problem so far, lol.
