I'm about to change my oil and I want to fix a leaking oil level sensor. Can I just remove it and plug it up with a new bolt or do you think I could just take it off and put a bunch of rtv around it?

I also know I could just buy a new gasket from LMR but its a pain ordering mail to where I live so I'd rather try something else out first.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

I believe the thread is a 1/2" - 20, or 1/2" fine thread if the pitch isn't specified by your local hardware store.

Edit: I had a brain fart and thought you meant drain plug. The low oil sensor is 20mm - 1.5 pitch.

Thanks. I ended up just putting a ton of rtv around it and hopefully that seals it up for now. Next oil change ill plug it up. Is it best to just zip tie it out of the way or to just cut it out?

So I went to go find the right size bolt to plug it but no one had the right size so i'll have to keep looking. But could someone help with my last question? Thanks!
