Oil!!!

I don't think it's going to matter. I would go back to using 5W20 in the future though if you confirm through other sources that it is indeed the correct weight to use.

I use 5w-30 also. There's no problem.

I use 5W20 valv in my car.

I recently found WalMart 10W-30 Super Tech FULL Synthetic oil $11.88 five quarts and I told the clerk I never saw it before and he said they don't get it in that often so I bought two. It had the same API specs as Mobil 1 so I'm comfortable with that. My 96 'stang has 117K miles on it and doesn't burn a drop, change oil and filter every six months or five thousand miles, air filter every ten thousand. Heck of a lot cheaper than overhauling an engine.

This is interesting. We have a five year old Murray lawn tractor air cooled 12 HP Briggs engine and before I cut I check the oil and always had to add at least half a cup to a cup using straight 30W HD oil. Well, what the heck, no oil filter so adding refurbished the oil a bit. Last oil change I used the WallyWorld full synthetic and have done three cuts and haven't had to add any oil. Air cooler engines run much hotter than water cooled so apparently the synthetic is maintaining its thickness better because the engine has no oil leaks and the oil it uses has to be blowing by the rings, so go figure . . .


I read and heard a lot of discussions; is synthetic oil worth the money? Mobil 1 with tax is $5.00 a quart, but the Wal Mart is $2.50 and I can live with that.

Hmmm . . . Not that many companies make filters and same filters sold under different brand names. I use the Pure Premium Plus and hope for the best . . .

even so, i dont think i would touch any walmart brand crap with a 10 foot pole...regardless of the specs. ok, i would consider maybe giving it to my lawn tractor. but thats it.
