Get ready to send some hate mail, because I plan on it. Edmunds.com did a review on the mustang and they said this about the II

Everyone hates the Mustang II. It was too small, underpowered, handled poorly, terribly put together, ill-proportioned, chintzy in its details and altogether subpar. It also sold ridiculously well.

I think opinions like that have no place in a car review. To state "everyone hates the mustang II" is rediculous. Apparently not everyone does, huh guys? :shrug:

I know we get this all the time, but this time it's not even from the usual place "mustang mags, and other mustang sites"

I find comments like this unacceptable. Who's with me?

I agree with you on the other hand like it has been said so many times statements like that are one of the main reasons i even got a II. they say what they think people want to hear i will be right behind you on the hate mail and they can say whatever they want as long as when the race is over the bill says paid in full :) respect is nice to get but when they have no choice it is even better

Not that it may do much good, but I did send a letter to the editor. The author certainly does not represent my opinion. I thought the whole article was poorly written and full of alot of personal opinion.

I was proud of my letter. I even added at the end that I'm only 17 but I could have done alot better job then the person writing the review did.

I am with you! I sent my own nasty letter. I just don't understand what these wanna be writers have against the Mustang II???? I took my little Ghia out for a spin today and turned alot of heads. Even recieved some compliments from other drivers. Made me very proud. Anybody who has ever at least ridden in a Mustang II can't possibly walk away not liking them.

last time I took my Ghia out for a spin I had someone follow me to my house, of course she was a trailer trash beyotch who wanted to cuss at me for throwing gravel up on her 84 Caravan, Poor thing didnt' understand what power braking is, hehe that and I think she was offended by the sound of a 2" straight pipe with a 3" stainless tip off of that V8, hehe.

but getting back to topic, havent' read the article, not sure if I want to, it's kinda funny how people will get diarrhea of the mouth when it comes to Mustang II's they'll say one thing about it, you show em a picture or show em one of our cars and they usually have something good to say after you present them with what the car really is versus just telling em.
It's like coaching people on political subjects you just have to show em sometimes.

Further to this subject and getting him by a cyclist (see previous post)...

After the police and ambulance showed up the kid that ran into me was getting checked out by paramedics. He was in a neck brace and looked very uncomfortable.

So I was shocked when he called me over and said, "nice car by the way, sorry I messed it up" :p :rlaugh:

I receive regular complements on my car and it's a mess right now. I still have alot of work to do.

So the moral of the story is, anyone who would make such statements is obviously stupid. Why argue with a moron. It's like yelling at a stone. I'd love to change the world man, but I can't hand out brains to everyone. Stupid people are necessary to ensure the survival of the species.

I can bet that guys boss said "write a review on the 74-78 mustang ii"... the guy said "whats that" and the boss replied "well they were small unpowerful and no one liked em" and he wrote that review. until i owned my ii i knew nothing of the mii but once i learned about em they are great cars... and if they handle so bad why do so many hot rods use the mii suspension ?!? yuummm.. a lil biactching with my mornin cereal :spot:

My first experience with a II was kinda magical, it was the summer of 1990 and I was 12 years old, it was already predefined in my genetics that I would love Mustangs. But on the way to Nashville we spotted a red primered Mustang II coupe. My older was of age to be driving, so of course a Mustang was his first choice. Our only experience previous to that car was 65-68 stangs, Dad used to have 9 65-68 stangs, and only kept 2 of em after I came along. When the whole family saw that car we knew we had to have it. It had red interior just like Dad's 65, it had a V8, automatic tranny, and it was a Mustang, a few squirts of paint and it could be black, since my grandpa has a body shop it was too easy. After we got her home, she even smelled like Dad's 65. Hell right now they are even parked in the garage next to each other. After doing some research we found out it was a Ghia, it was very hard gettin them numbskulls up home to install the vinyl correctly but we eventually got it. No matter what anyone says in their internationally published statements all Mustangs are iconic, and the Mustang IIs will always hold a special place in my heart cuz it's where me and my brothers have really learned skills from our Dad and Grandpa, and mom taught me how to light em up in that car.
Sadly the people who look down on the II's have never had a positive experience with any car much less a Mustang II. They'll never know the enjoyment of working with family to a common goal, ie gettin a car ready for a show or just the personal satisfaction of showing what you can do with your hands.

OK...Allow me to vent a little. Each and every one of us who has owned a Mustang II for more than 10 minutes knows what the general opinion is of our little cars. Why bother getting all revved up over it time, and time again? I like my little Cobra and i feel NO need to justify why i drive a II to anyone. Let the brainwashed writters of these magazines who would get a cramp from putting a pull over sweater on write what they want to, we know better. I get a lot of thumbs up, and hollers when i drive my cobra but I don't need someone else to tell me how nice it is. Sorry if it sounds cocky, but i drive a II because I like it.

Total agreement

My two cents....

When I was in the Air Force, roomate had a 78 II (V8 - 4spd).
Was the fastest vehicle I ever drove, knew I would own one some day.

Now I'm in the process of rebuilding the engine in a 77 Cobra II. :D

I don't regret buying it for a second.
