I swapped the blower on my 04 convert with a kb 2.6 with all the goodies chip, bap ect. When we started it ,it ran fine for about 4 seconds then began to clatter like something fell into a cylinder.we bore scoped all the cylinders several times no sign of anything no marks scratches.pulled the belt off the blower
, disconnected the chip no change. Now it;s in a shop and the mechanic thinks it;s a wrist pin ,It ran fine before the swap any ideas?

The blower has to come off to pull head .when my head blew a valve it was during start up.one of valve seats moved and the valve hit the piston . It was cyl number 6.when blower is off u can see intake valves.im installing my engine as we speak.if you didnt know engine has to be pulled to do head

well pulled the head no sign of fod. the mechanic's sure it's a rod now. I have an extended 2warrnty but I doubt they'll honor it considering my recent mods, even though they were on the motor for a couple of seconds when it failed.

Put the stock stuff back on real quick, flatbed it over to the dealer and play dumb. It's worth a shot, even if they wont fix it, you're no worse off than where you are now. (- some time and effort to return it to stock)

too late it's already in the shop.the dealer warranty has already expired but I've got an extended warranty and any adjuster will have to travel 400 miles to look at the car.the shop is cool about the mods and were both hoping they'll do it by phone.besides it only ran a couple of seconds after the blower install when the rod went, bummer huh.

I dont think he is right .one rod cost more than the block.right now your bill must be as much as the blower.if your mech. Pulls crank all those bolts are not reuseable like the head bolts

talked to the mech today. this guy knows a ten fold more about these cars than the dealer mech here locally and about half the price.he pulled the head without pulling the motor now he's got to pull the motor for the adjuster.he's right the sound is deep and sounds like a rod knock.I've talked to several fleet mechs here and they all say the same thing fords quality control sucks, were about 1500 vehicles where i work and another 1000 at the adjacent mine ,i know these guys personally and the only reason they use ford is that gm and dodge are even worse.this is inspiring.

This engine is nothing like the others .i did mine twice in the last month.the 2nd time was because the shop who did the head work thought is was like a reg 4.6?i did all the other stuff.look closer to the head.my 03 cobra has 219000miles and the head has gone bad twice.both times it sounded just as you described, and on both heads same problem, valve seat tube moves inside of head valve doesnt have to hit piston to be bad.what was your comppression before pulling head?dont tell me he didnt check it before pulling it.not tryn to be nasty just sounds like your gettn shafted

Whats up with your engine?im still puzzeled .you say something fell into head through the intake port.unless its smaller than like a 10-28 nut i cant see anything squezze around valve or find away to bottom end.this engine is also hand assembled by svt.you should havd done some homework before jumping in.my thought is cyl 6 and a bad exhuast valve.keep us posted

well after reading you're post I decided I'm not going to walk on eggs with this engine and bought a mmr 900 series long block.I'll rebuild the stock one later. It wasn't cheap but living out here [300 miles to any sizable city] I didn't want to be stuck on the side of the road with a scattered motor in the middle of nowhere.I'll let you know when it's running.
