I noticed my old motor mounts today and the rubber is just cracked and peeling. The transmission mount is ok though.

I need some references for a good set of motormounts, I drive the car pretty often so I want to stay away from solid ones, how about polyurethane though? Also, I have a convertible and my mounts were stronger then non verts , so should i just buy oem mounts again? If not oem, What brands do you suggest?

Reviews and opinions wanted, thanks

In my opinion i would stick with a good set of convertable mounts.

I personally like the OEM convertible mounts. I have never used the poly mounts though so I cant give an opinion of them. I have used solid and they suck for a street car unless you have some reason that the motor absolutely can't move, like rigid turbo piping or something of that nature.

I've heard good things of urethane / polyurethane - can anyone enlighten me, I replaced my endlinks with polyurethane bushings as well as my sway bar and they can take the flex and resort back to original shape really well.

I installed the vert mounts and a poly trans mount..there was a noticable change for the good. Old owner had a solid trans mount in place (not a good thing) with the engine mounts being..well lets just say they were quite tired.

I have the Energy Suspension poly motor and trans mounts. They have been in my car for about 4 years and I'm very happy with them. They are much stronger then even the vert mounts and should last a lot longer, especially if your making a lot of power

If you can swing the 3 factor price difference, go for it! Poly is nice stuff. Otherwise, the captured vert mount should work alright on your vert.

Good luck.

Can't remember where I got mine, but Summit has them. Go to www.summitracing.com. They sell just the motor mounts for $130, or a kit w/ motor and trans mounts for $155. You can get them in red or black.

I have prothane motor and trans mounts. They feel way better than stock ones and they interlock each other so if one of them breaks the motor wont rest on the steering linkage. It happened to my brothers 91 Gt, we thought it needed a new rack but it turned out to be a broken motor mount.

I'd go for the prothane if i were you. Their motor mounts look just like the vert mounts but they are poly. Also, depending on where you get them they're like $40-$60 cheaper then energy ones and theyre just as good.

I've got the Moroso solids and an OE replacement trans mount. Feels great, but rattles and interior vibrations go up a lot...

My Prothanes were $89 from Summit. Stock vert mounts are gonna run like $35 each here. So for the extra $20 I would do Prothane.

Good info here. I too need to change my MM, how much of a pain was it to change them? Did the poly mounts require any modifications?
