Ok, I have a 91 gt convertible and theres no system at all so Im starting from scratch. Whats you suggestions on a low budget install. I already know what amps I want and I want to do 2 10"s in the trunk but which ones? Is it better to do a component setup for the front and put the tweeters in the dash?

For the 10's, what amps are you using, and what is your budget? This will help incredibly. You'll need something with STRONG lowend, as it tends to disappear with the top down. Infinity Perfects and JL w3's do NOT count.

The comp/tweet set will work great in that configuration. It isn't perfect, but it will work nice, and be hidden (important on a vert). Again, what amp, and you'll need a lot of power there also. Verts are tough to get right, but not impossible.

Im probally going with 2 hifonics amps. The one for the subs will either be the 1600 or 2000 watt models so power wont be an issue. I want to put the box under the lip where the top goes into so I want subs for a smaller box. I was thinking image dynamics. What are some low cost highs?

Those ID's will do it. You can also look into SoundSplinter, Ascendant Audio, and the Oz Matrix, possibly the Fi Q or SSD series.

The highs, I'd honestly build my own components from Madisound. I like Vifa, Scan Speak, and Peerless.

Nothing is inherently wrong with the w3's, they just don't have the kind of frequency response needed for my suggestion. The w7 would do nicely, but they're just too big to fit in a vert. The w3's are very nice sounding woofers, but they don't have the "bloated" low-end response needed for top down cruising.

reason i ask is cause I got a w3v3 in my vert

it doesn't lose any sound really, but the outside sound gets louder making it seem quieter.

and yes, the w3 sounds realllll good I think

I guess I have no problems with w3's. I have some "old-school" w3's (the very first pair available in the Midwest)
