anyone have experience or heard much about the g-techs? how accurate are they? are they worth the $$$?

A guy at work let me use one for a couple of days one time, I wasn't impressed at all with it. It was hard to use IMO.

they are fun, I dont know about accurate but lots of fun imo..

My friend let me borrow one, and they're pretty hard to use, you gotta do everything at the exact moment or you'll get a really off rating. I didn't like it

well that sucks to hear! i thought it might be a cool toy to see just what kind of gains each mod does without having to shell out for a dyno run every time. i've always kinda wanted one and just found a couple used ones near me for sale

When I didn't have my radar detector on my windshield plugged in the wire would just dangle straight down and when I got on it it would FLY back haha that was my own kinda G-tech

i have the PRO RR, which was the best one about a year or two ago. its fun i guess, but not worth 400 and change, glad i got mine for cheap

ps, if you get one dont ever drop it or leave it out in the cold

It's more fun/cheaper to just go to the track after making modifications. You should be able to very accurately gauge what kind of power you are making based on your car's weight and the trap speed it runs.

they were giving them away with a set of four bfg's a few years back. I didnt push the issue too hard to get one. seemed kinda cheap

I got the basic one a few years ago and it's probably sat in my glovebox since about 6 months after I got it.

I have the original G-tech pro, black with blue screen and very upgradeable with firmware updates from testla. I used it and never had a problem with it, worked everytime, i didnt mind setting up the weight and i had a few cars programed into it also. when you plug it into the lightersocket it aint as effective as hard wiring it into the car, closer the the alternator as possable. Thats what testla told me to do with it because it picks up a voltage signal from the alternator. But now since mine broke cuz my stupid friends decided to take it out of my car and shake it-dont know why but they messed up the accelerometers and then pluged it back in and burned it out some how I was thinking of getting the pro-rr but i would also like mine fixed.

I got the nicer one for Christmas a few years back. Never really used it, just played around with it a few times. I know you gotta have the weight right on down to the pound or the readings will be way off. A lot of people put in what they think it weighs, or what it says on the door, but that doesn't work. You have to actually weigh the car with you in it and have it exact. If you have a passenger you have to add that. I do like the shift light on it haha. I might take it to the track with me next year and see how accurate it is. I'd much rather be able to make passes on the highway in my home town than drive 2 hours to the track.

the man speaks the truth, if its off on the weight at all your gonna think your running 12's in a stock fox.

the best thing i have to say about it was watching my rpms and shift points, also practicing on the tree, ive never taken my car to the track but i feel im ready after practicing on the pro-rr. you can have 2 different kinds of staging trees. you can go back and put the info on your computer too and further analyze things from there but i never tried it.
