Looking to buy my first mustang soon and would like to hear some of your opinions on one I just found close-by!

1995 Ford Mustang GT with 98k miles
Purple exterior / Black interior

here is what the ad says ;

I went to go see the car in person and it looked fabulous on the exterior, I didn't know if I would like the purple, but it really looked good in the sun. I didn't get to see any of the interior or engine bay because I hate talking to car salesmen.

The asking price is $6,900
KBB (Good Condition) is $3,715, (Excellent Condition) is $4,065.

I really don't think all those mods would bring the price up a whole $3k...

So what do you guys think? good deal? haggle the price down to like $5k? just forget about it?

Sounds like a great starter car because a lot of the basic stuff is already done. Those little items at up to a lot of money. However, if hasn't been so modified to fit one persons particular taste. I'd say the purple is unique and I like that. Can't speak for the price. That's really up to you.

I agree, this sounds like a good start, but of course you should drive it and check out the mechanicals.

Price wise, you can't really just add up the extras and add them to the blue book value. You really don't get that much for that stuff when you sell a car. Unless there is a lot of work done to the motor, I would offer 4000 to 4500 for it. Look around and you will find a lot of decent cars in that range. 6900 is definitely too much, IMHO.

When I was looking for my current car, I looked at a 95 at a Ford dealership that had engine work, shaker hood, wheels, exhaust, etc. They were asking 6900 for it also. I offered 4900 and they said no. 2 days later they called back and said yes. Unfortunately for them, it was literally 15 minutes too late as I had just made the deal for my car.

So make an offer if you like it and sit tight and see what happens.

Its lowered on stock shocks and struts. This increases the load on them and leads to a premature failure in most cases. They likely are the factory ones at under 100k as well.

Also check the paint code. If its a sapphire car or a repaint. If its a repaint check for body work...

Adam, I was being a bit sarcastic. I looked at that as well and it crossed my mind that they may have been replaced when the springs were done whenever that was. Leastways I would have. You are of course correct, if they are the original OEM pieces since day 1 there should be budget for their replacement.

I know that mods don't get their value back in resale, but it's a factor to me. I know what basic items I want on my Mustang, and if I'm willing to get those items with the car, it's worth spending a little extra money. It's cheaper than the alternative of buying a stock Mustang and buying all those parts seperately. I wouldn't have any problem paying $5500, maybe a little more for that car. I know cars like that pop up all the time, and you can snag them at a good price, but I don't see it being worth waiting around for one locally.

sounds like a good start but i'd start with an offer of 6k. post up some pics.

check out the harmonic balancer to make sure there is no rubber pushing out.
