Oppinions on engine price?

Hey everyone, I was hoping to get some buying advice on an engine a guy is selling here in town. He says that it is an '87 block (roller I believe right) and is selling the whole engine for like $200. Says it was ok milage and the bore is still std. Might be able to get him down to like $180. Is this a good deal? Or should I just keep looking for a block to stroke?

I guess it depends upon supply/demand. I usually give $100 for them, but I am never in a hurry and strike when the time is right. If you need it now and it is in good shape then offer the guy $150 and if he won't go fir it try $175....can't hurt.

What kind of '87 block? A 302?

E-mailed the guy about the engine- should get back to me tomorrow.

Also, ran across another find. A guy is selling a 6al box for $100, said it came off his weekend car and he wants to return it to stock... good deal or no? Should I just wait and buy a new msd?
