I realize I probably have 2 more months at least to wait..but everyone always talks about this automated phone number to keep yourself updated on the status of the car. What is it?
Here's what you'll need which can be found on your Vehicle Order Confirmation sheet.
Dealer Code: Example-F21018 (all you need is the numerical digits 21018)
They'll also ask for body Type Example: T85
Year: 2005 FORD
Order Number: This you can get from your dealer if you haven't already got one.
There ordering process for me was:
10 weeks "Clear and Unscheduled"
After 10 weeks I called back and they said the order had been serialized
5 Days later called back and they had said Order has a build date for the week of June 13th and that's where I'm at now. I haven't called back, but am planning on calling Thursday to see where it stands, I have better luck on Thursdays it seems, just my lucky day I guess.
I have heard from others on the board it will take anywhere from 1-6 weeks after build date to have it at the dealer. I'll post more as it comes in. And for info purpose, I'm ordering an 05 GT Vert with every option down to the wheel locks.
GoldenPony I hope this helps out, but dont torture yourself too bad. I started calling every other day to only get a Clear & Unscheduled announcment. It wasnt until i gave up hope and quit calling I called and got that I was being serialized. Once again hope the number helps out.
Follow up on your spoiler delete. I picked up my gt vert last week, and much to my surprise they forgot to delete the spoiler. Their response? You don't have to take the car-we'll sell it in 15 min for $3 or $4000 more. I got it on x-plan so they would love for me to walk away. I think they may have intentionally done it in case I backed out because most buyers prefer the spoiler making it easier for them to sell at a fat premium. I'm cynical.
Consider yourself fortunate. We placed an order via the X Plan on February 7th and were told to expect the GT in 8 to 12 weeks (priority 40). It's now over 18 weeks and the only thing we get from the salesman is "It should be pretty soon now!". I just called the 1-800 number and get "Clear and Unscheduled". The wife says if they don't come up with a VIN or build date by the 11th of July, she wants to go shopping. I've ordered a number of new cars and have never seen anything like this. Supposedly the dealer has confirmed that all of their orders for the 2005 Mustang WILL be honored. Time will tell.
