Not sure if I understand the question. But tank is filled when you buy it. when you run out you just exchange the tank for the cost of the gas.

I use CO2 and I can get it from any gas supplier in most major cities, or a Beer/beverage distributor.

It welds hot and is cheap.

the price on the website is the cost to buy the cylinder and with gas the first time and then after that when you exchange it you just pay of the gas. Depending in size it runs about $30. I chose the #4 size as they call it 125cu because it is the largest that you can get refiled or exchanged easily at any gas supplier. When they get larger than this most are leased and suppliers will not fill competitor cylinders. So you have to have proof that you own it EVERY time you go to fill it and they will not exchange it. They are also Heavy even when empty. The 125 fits most carts that have a place for the cylinder as the diameter is not much larger than the 40cu units. They make the cart a little top heavy but that keeps you for the temptation of pulling the cart with the gun.

I ordered my cylinder form a website had it filled at a local gas supplier that fills all the ones at work. As they will not ship them filled common carrier. Also these have a date stamp as they need to be pressure checked every 10 years I think, so make sure you exchange it before that date.

PS remember that any of these have a lot of energy stored allways protect the valve if it comes off things will get VERY interesting for the next 5 seconds.

I don't like co2 on thin sheet metal mix is much better IMHO

I just ordered one as well. Cross my fingers it is at least as good as the Clarke welder I have been renting when I need a welder.

I have the 140 Lincoln and that one looks pretty much the same. Use 75% argon/25% CO2 and you'll be pleased with the results.

Can anyone recommend a book on welding?
Eastman sells one, not sure if any good though.

I got my century welder yesterday and hooked everything up. I don't have a gas cylinder yet so I am using it with the shielded wire for now. It worked great for me. It will take a little practice to get used to the machine but the welds after 5 beads were looking pretty good. At least for me they were. I plan on getting a tank this week and then compare the two. Well worth the money in my opinion.

I received mine last Friday but have not assembled it as yet.
Glad to hear it works well for you, I think this was a super deal.
Let us know how much the gas shielded system works.

What thickness materials have you welded so far?

Will do. I hope to get the gas tomorrow if I have enough time. I have done some work on sheet metal and 1/8" square tubing.

I got a tank of 75% Argon 25% CO2, new tips, wire and shield today. It was good before but there is a huge difference once the gas is hooked up. Much smoother feel, no splatter and cleaner. Great little welder for the money!
