We haven't had a hurricane in a few years now. I'd rather doge a few canes than live with rain half the year or worry about tornados dropping out of the sky a few times a year. You have to take the good with the bad, I’d rather live with sunshine half the year and worry about a cane once in a while but that’s just me.

Yeah, i've lived here all my life and havn't been through anything more than a weak tropical storm. I'll take my chances with the wind and rain than the snow and ice or earthquakes guess it would be different if i'd lived where there are earthquakes instead of hurricanes though Almost forgot to add that the stang made it out fine, it rode out the storm in the garage, glad to hear everyone else made it out okay

Glad you're OK...Im still waiting for Baglock to Chime in!

It looks like you had to cut and paste that wood on the windows..Was it hard to find the wood?

Guess it's time to invest in some storm panels.. If I go with accordians, and you want to drive down here..I would sell you mine that can be made to fit DIRT CHEAP!!

DonJohn.. Insurance for My $300k+ home is cheaper than my car insurance!

I just got back to Orlando... I-95 southbound was a parking lot (probably still is). Had to use a back route.

The cover blew off the GT as I expected... but to my pleasant surprise the hurricane blasted the car sparkly clean! It was dirty when I left, and now looks like its been through a carwash. I'm just feeling fortunate that a tree didn't fall on it, but I parked it in an open area with no trees around.

is insurance like insane for u guys?

Everyone in America will pay for this......2 ways. Federal aid and higher insurance from their insurance companies.

On a side note I'm glad the fatalities weren't any higher then they are. I hear a 3rd storm may be brewing and might make FL too. Anyone else hear anything about this?

glad to see that you made it out okay... you suffered more physical damage to your house then we did...

besides the flooding.

i had water up to the outlets.... all kinds of **** is ruined. and yes the deductiable is going to be insane.... around 5,000 from home owners and another 3,000 for flood insurance.

and yes ivan is on its way....

and to whoever said i dont understand why you live there....

a hurricane hasnt made a direct hit in tampa in over 100years.... and this is the first time we have ever flooded. so its not a yearly thing.

check out the thread i made in 4.6 talk.

Hurricane Frances: Damage Report

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi ya'll i just got power back its been out since friday at noon so its a welcome "treat" lol.

the damage report.... long and extensive.

the house flooded. all the floors, carpet, entertainment center, china cabinet, washer, dryer, refrigator, cabinets, dishwasher, dining room table, 2 computers, my bed, my moms bed, all the doors, 2-1/2 feet of drywall 2 bookshelfs, 2 dressers... i think thats it... or all i can count for now.

oh and all the food in the frigeerator and freezer are ruined.

i had shin deep water in the house. live just about a block a way from the tampa bay, and the storm surge came up the street and into our house...

we saved the TV and the leather sofa but putting them up on blocks... during charley we had more time to do that. the forecast didnt really say to expect that much flooding and the fact that it hit at 5:30 in the morning.

around 7pm the news said on the radio for a MANDATORY evacutaion of level A flood zones (me) we called the EOC (emergency operations center) and they told us to hunker down and ride it out.... we did and we got ****ed

so far just in personal property were looking at around $50-$60,000 in damages not counting the physical damage and labor thats going to be needed on the house....

oh and ivan is on its way

thats all...
