For all the folks who want to take the paint off their machine. Hire some one to do it. I don't care if it cost $3000. I just got my 68 fastback down to the metal. Went through three coats of paint and three coats of primer. The last coat of primer was from hell. I put four coats of stripper on that last coat of primer before it let go.
In all I went through four and one half gallons of Aircraft stripper. Using the best mask money could buy I might be around to paint the thing. Would not go through this again.
The Aircraft stripper has teeth but some of that old primer has fangs.

that last coat of promer you went through as the factory primer, and sounds like it was still in good shape so you didnt need to remove it. but you are right, best to send the car to someone with a media blaster, affordable, and quick.

I'm suspired you got through it. I wasn't able to get through mine cause the original paint was like a lead based enamel or something. I ended up using "furry" pads to take it down to metal.
