Ok I read some threads about touch up paint. Im afraid to do it because I have a decent amount of chips on my hood and I dont want to make it look worse than it does. I have the Ford touch up paint to match my color of my car. I went and got an estimate on how much it would cost to get my hood repainted and blended, $750 I didnt know it cost so much Without the blending they wanted $350 but couldnt guarantee a perfect match. How much do you guys think it would cost to get my whole car painted? It is a 96 Purple Mustang GT.

WOW thats crazy! I was hoping a body shop would do a little prep work on my hood and paint it for $350 . But I may be very wrong lol.

I got a quote on a tiny little blemish on my hood and they quoted me 368 or something like that to repair it, saying they'd have to repaint the whole hood to fix it. The work I actually DID have them do (rear quarter panel after it was involved in a hit and run) turned out fine though, some overspray and buffing marks that I need to take out once I feel comfortable working on the panel. But this was a fairly professional shop, not just a speed/performance paint shop, so 750 sounds like RAPE to the max. Shop around and I bet you'd be able to find cheaper, though I bet purple is harder to match than black.

it depends on the products they use, paint, guns, tape, filler etc, it all adds up unfortunately

Kinda off topic but not really:

Does anyone here know about spray guns? Like what kind to buy for painting a car? I have a compressor, respirator, some skill from a few years back (helped paint a friends car) ... I want to get a gun and practice some so I can paint my front bumper whenever I get it.

I wanted to have my front and rear bumpers painted because the paint is having some funky reaction and its all pitted looking. They wanted $750.

Yea I am gonna shop around and save my money up and probably get the whole car repainted in a year or two depending on my job. But until I have the money I might try my touch up paint.
