Best bet is to call your local paint shop. The problem with paint is that every company has diffrent paints that mix with diffrent reducers etc..all at diffrent concentrations. For example...when my buddy sprayed my old car the PPG paints we used a line that required a 1:1 ratio for the etching primer. The sealer required a 3 part mixture, the paint was a straight shot as well as the clear. Find out what base you need and mix ratios from a House of Kolor shop.

Not a problem. I'm still learning myself. Not many people get involved in their own body work and paint. Remember that their paint is great, but a pain in the a$$ to blend, actuall damn near impossible depending on color choice. Remember this when you think about rock, salt and A$$holes that swing their doors wide. Galesburg..right on...origionally from Peoria myself. Take it easy.

Look into your local community college. Matter of fact I'm taking a body class on the weekends. Not as serious as the auto technologies courses, but allows me access to a heated paint booth, an instructor with insane know how and others who just want to work on their own cars.

Yeah we have a good program our local community college offers, lol my dad works security for the college and ive seen some nice mustangs that has been painted by a friend of my dad that went to school there, they had a 67 mustang that was painted and a 90 GT convertible that was painted pearl black and it looks really nice, they have some pretty nice cars that get painted at the college, im lookin to get into auto body sometime next year

To answer your question, 2 quarts of color should do the car. However, if you are doing door jams, underhood, inside hatch, and ground effects (if you have them), better get 3 quarts. The clear will depend on how many coats you want. I'd suggest 3 coats of clear, which would probably put you at 1 to 1.5 gallons depending on how many coats you wanted in the less important stuff I mentioned above.

I Just did mine, its a vert, but I did all the jams back side of trunk and hood along with the ground effects, And under the hood. I bought a gallon and I have half a quart left, Which is what I wanted in case I have to repaint something later, scratch or whatever. Use sealer under your base and it will cover easier.
