Salvage yards out here in Washington write their stock numbers on their parts with yellow paint; I want to remove these scribblings from my parts. I've tried traditional paint thinner, "Bug&Tar Remover", and even Mother's Polish with a drill and disk. Nada. I can't use abrasives, want to protect the aluminum from scratches.
What do I need? Acetone? Turpentine? TIA :bang:

Acetone mixed with MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) will remove most paints from metal. Just don't put it in a plastic bottle, or you'll have a puddle of melted plastic!

Yep, coincidently I saw the Goof-Off yesterday at Home Depot. Bowman doesn't ring a bell. I'll look for it while I'm at the parts store today. I tried the "Bug &Tar Remover", that's sort of like safety solvent, I reckon <scratches head>.
Thanks everyone! :flag:
