I painted the tail light bezels on my Opal Frost GT today. I painted them with black Krylon. They look great! My question is on the lens part. Are they supposed to have a clear coat on them? Mine appear to have a clear coat that is flaking off like crazy! It looks really bad where the clear used to be. Any recommendations on this?

I dont think they are 'supposed' to have cc. Did someone own the car before you and maybe do it?

Yeah, that is possible. What's the best way to remove it all? Will wetsanding them work? I tried Mequire's Plastix polish on the areas that it has peeled off. It didn't help. They look really faded.... Thanks.

I think Paul(killercanary) had some clear coat on his headlights or something. He just wetsanded them and used the BlueOval Plastic/glass polish or whatever. It should work, i know when i wetsanded my tail lights just to clean them up they turned out brand new.

I bought an extra set... going to try the black ones on my car too. Let me know if you clear your whole taillights or not. I was kinda wondering myself.

wetsanding should help...a lot of us use like a 1500 grit with plenty of water.. after that, THEN go for the plastic polish, Or I used regular T.W. polishing compound.

Whatever the case, wetsand them, then spray some glossy clear from a rattle can. Couple coats should make them turn out perfect.

Or you could do the VHT night shades, and black them out.
