I've been wanting to paint my car for a long while. I am thinking about House of Kolor "Galaxy Grey" on top their "Black Pearl." Or maybe just spraying the whole thing in the black and then clearing it. How many quarts will I need? I was thinking 2 to be safe. Has anyone else painted their own car or used house of kolor?

I just had my stang painted. I used House of colors silver and house of colors galaxy grey, and ford sonic blue. The galaxy grey was used for the break in the two tone. Both the silver and grey are awesome color. I originally was gonna use the black but it blended in too much with the sonic blue.

i personally would at the least buy 3 quarts. i know by the time u reduce it u'll have almost twice as much. if u wasn't going to paint the jams and the engine bay more than likely 2 quarts would do it. i'm not expert, but i went to school for autobody. someone else could probably give u a better answer.
personally i always by more just in case of something. as in getting in a wreck or something in that nature u'd have to repaint. if bought more than enough u'd already have the paint. i hope that makes sense.

Paint

If you are spraying your car black over the existing color. Two quarts should be fine. 2 coats covers. Then you will need about 3 quarts of clearcoat. I would buy a gallon because thats how it usually comes, and then the appropriate amount of activator. If you don't want to spend as much, and you are definately going with black, I would use a single stage black that shines with no clearcoat needed, about 3 quarts should do. It shines beautiful,(Lexus comes like this from the factory) Just make sure you keep the car waxed.(Do not wax car until 30 days after paint job). If you have any other questions, with the paint I'm sure I got the answer.:nice:

whats the point of using the perls under the top coat color? like a silver perl under a blue? whats that do? pics would help

I meant on top a base black if I went grey or "Black Pearl" if I just went black. I would probably only use the pearl as a base if I went with candy on top.

If you want Black pearlcoat. You need to base the car in black first then apply 2 to 5 coats of pearl on top depending on how much pearl effect you want. *The more pearl you use the lighter the car is going to be. Pearls have a nice glimmer when the sun hits it, Just a pain in the ass if you need to repair a panel. Especially if you already made a cutom color and have no more.
