well i thought about painting my car with spray paint... the paint is ok on it but i have some dings, i also need a new hatch, spoiler, rear bumper and both front fenders. I looked around at pics of people who painted there car with spray paint and some of them looked pretty good and decent for spray paint. Theres also a guy around here where i live who did this and had it for a bout 2 years and you can't even tell its spray painted. Im not talking about just whipping out the spray can and spraying the ghetto way without prep.
I would be doing this in the summer as i get the body parts i need. I have lots of time and i was thinking of doing it in steps such as one day doing the fenders then a day or two later the hatch and spoiler, then the moldings/ ground effects etc.( as i have them off and do it inside in the basement). I would prime, paint, then clear coat it.
This may sound stupid to some of you, but i actually dont have the money to have my car painted by someone or a shop. First im only going to try it out on a fender and see what king of results i get. If its good, then i will do all of the car or most of it if it matches close.
Has anyone here done this? or just part of there car like a hood? Also what kind of paint would be good to use (primer, base, clearcoat)? And if i did the bumpers and ground effects, do they sell a aerosol spray can that has the flex stuff in it? My car is black and i would be painting it black again.
Any suggestions, help, or experience with this is appreciated. Im still not sure on it and was thinking of a maaco paint job, but i dont like the idea that i might have to worry about a ****ty paint job.
