painting over POR-15

Anyone paint over POR-15? They recommend their primers, but I wanted to paint the entire car with the same primer. I did not want to spray their primer over the POR and then a different primer over the rest of the car. Anyone coated with some other than the POR primer?

I laid down some POR-15 on the battery apron, let it dry for a week, then went back with some Eastwood self etching primer, and Under hood paint (what I had on hand). The primer and under hood paint adhered exceptionally well to the POR-15.
After reading the POR instructions and all the information I could, I was really hesitant, but it worked great.
I will say the lid on the can of POR-15 really sucks to try and take off. And what ever you do, don' t spill that stuff on anything you don't want painted. Man, that is some tough stuff!

"TOP-COAT APPLICATION OVER POR-15 PRIOR TO FINISH PAINT IF USING PRIMER:
After second coat of POR-15 has been applied, wait approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour until the POR-15 coating is tacky; then apply a light dust coat of primer and let dry. Next, apply a full coat of primer and follow normal top-coating procedures. If primer is lacquer-based, apply dust coat only after POR-15 is dry to touch."

i saw that, but they talked about using their tie coat and self etch primer. my plan was to spray with some ppg epoxy. i'll probably just rough it up then spray, should be fine.

I actually have the stuff under my paint, under the fiberglass bondo stuff, around the area where i patched a rust hole in my rear quarters. I've had no problems with adhesion thus far a year and some after I sprayed the first coat.

The instructions I posted above are specifically not for their tie coat or self etch primer. They are for other manufacturers primers, but don't rely on my response - call them and ask - They're very helpful.
