How would I go about preparing the bottom part of my GT black? Its grey right and has lots of yellow spots. Would like to paint it black on my own and want to know how I should start and the steps.
Consitering its urethane or similar, sand it down with nothing more course than 220 grit. If you go courser it can make it leave strands. After sanding and feathering is done, go over it with a finer grit to smooth it out.
Once you have it where you want it, prep the surface with grease and wax remover, then right before paint go over it with final-Kleen, not laquer. Before you primer it spray it with this stuff called bulldog, which is an adhesive promoter. Hit it with primer gray then paint.
87foxstang is right on with the Bulldog adhesion promoter. We used that stuff on a GT a while back and there was no problems. Do it just like he said above, and you will be happy
I painted a Front Fender Extension Titanum, I wet sanded it with 400, sprayed with Flexible Primer, sanded with 400 again, did my final spray with Flexible Paint, and added a new pinstripe.
