Hey Everyone I have an 06 mustang GT and seem to be having an interesting airbag issue. When my girlfriend is riding in the car with me she noticed that the passanger airbag off light will turn on and off when I am accelerating and making turns. She is the only one who has noticed it. She weighs about 127lbs. Funny thing is Ive had my 70lb 8 year old sister in the car as well as my 350lb friend and none of them ever noticed that. Has anyone else had this issue?

I have the same issue with my GF...125lbs and depending which way she leans in the seat determines if the airbag is active or not.... only option is to get a heavier GF or ignore the light.... I am ignoring the light....

Same problem, mine weighs in about 135. Mine is a little different in that sometimes the airbag will just stay off, then we'll get out of the car get back in and the airbag will activate.

Seems to be an odd thing to be ****ing up in a vehicle.

It has become a running joke on whether it will light up or not when she gets in...sad for a safety feature to become a laughing joke...

Get her some implants... Tell her they will make her weigh 5lbs more and keep her safer

That won't work. If she gets the implants, the airbag becomes less important.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'm glad Im not the only one with this problem. I wonder if there will be a TSB on this in the future (the car not the girlfriend ). Just one more question when a child sits in the seat should the airbag off light stay on or should it just come on for a little while and turn off?

the owners manual covers the airbag light pretty well.

I think it states that if it senses 1-70 pounds it would turn of the passenger airbag because that idicates that a baby seat is probably there. So when someone who does not weigh much over 70 pounds when they shift in the seat the sensor is sensing less than 70 pounds and turns the airbag off. While driving push on the passengers seat with your right arm and the light will come on.

if you fasten the seat belt on the passanger side and drive the light will come on as well.... for being such a "smart seat" I wish it would recognize the fact that my GF is over 18 (39 to be exact...despiting looking 25) and weighs more then the stated 70 lbs that is the supposed cut off.....

Anyone try the "implants for additional weight to get the light to turn off excuse" yet.... just looking to buy a used 05 or 06 GT since I am sure you wont be needing it after you have that conversation with your GF.

My daughter (13 and 110 lbs.) has the same thinig happen to her, I tell her to put her @ss all the way down in the seat - bingo light goes off. Adjust the back of the seat so that it is more upright and the problem doesn't occur, it happens because the weight is being transfered through the front edge of the seat and now closer to the back of the seat..... has worked for us

I think telling my GF to "put her @$$ all the way down in the seat" would lead me to having other issues..... like a lack of personal attetnion.
