PCV Sucking Oil?

I noticed my car smelled like it was burning oil today so unhooked the hoses that connect to the PCV valve and they started to drip a lot of oil. Would a new PCV valve fix my problem? I didnt see any white or blue smoke, I just noticed the faint smell of burning oil. I recently installed a Cobra upper/lower, so that might have something to do with it.

It's always going to suck a little oil, but a new PCV valve wouldn't hurt. Make sure the baffle is in place in the Cobra intake. You could also change the breather filter..

Yea ... that's what I was gonna say ... make sure that baffle is in place and make sure your PCV valve is good and functioning correctly.

The baffle on the underside of the intake? I bought the intake used but it already had a baffle on it. It was definitely smaller than the one on the stock intake though. Does that sound right? I guess I'll just buy a new PCV, screen and grommet and see if that helps me out. Thanks for the help.

Yes the baffle on the cobra is smaller than the stock one.

while we are on the subject, how do i change my pcv valve? i am sure mine is working poorly, plus if i rev my engine real high in neutral i will sometimes get puffs of burning oil.

That's the PCV Sreen that gets inserted in the lower intake, not a breather filter (although it does filter air in a way).

To change the PCV valve, you just pull it out of the vacuum hose that T's off the line going from the upper intake to the back of the lower intake and replace it...very simple.

Whatever you call it, it needs to be changed every 50,000 miles or so or it will "cook" the oil in it and stop up the PCV system and be very hard to get out! and yes you need a PCV working to prevent crankcase pressure buildup.
