Actually you might have the correct one. When I changed my PCV on my 02 GT the PCV that was original to my car had a plastic elbow attached to it and the new PCV from Ford didn't. I went back thinking I had the wrong one as well but Ford did a design change so I ended up having to buy another part to connect the new PCV.

When I changed my pcv valve awhile back, I found out that I needed (from the Ford parts counter) not only the pcv valve itself, but also the plastic elbow (and hose) that attaches to the pcv valve. I had already bought the pcv valve (NOT the heated version), and was able to get the elbow separately as a Cobra part, and press the elbow onto the pcv valve with a c-clamp.

It was a suprisingly complicated ordeal for something as simple as replacing a pcv valve.

all is you change is the pcv valve. If you need to change the elbow because it's damaged, then from Ford yes you have to buy the entire assembly.

If your car has a heated PCV you don't need to replace it with the heated version.

How do you pull off the old elbow off of the old pcv valve without damaging or deforming it?
