The parts store probably calls the screen a breather filter. First you pop the PCV valve off. Then the grommet comes off (it might come off with the PCV valve too). Then underneath both there's a screen buried. It's the last line of defense for knocking down oil before it goes through the PCV valve. And as such, it tends to get pretty clogged up. WHen it clogs, as Prokiller indicated, that entire leg of the PCV system starts to bog. The little line from the CAI to the oil fill neck tries to help out but it's not enough. Then the pressure starts finding another outlet.
