By definition, pearl paint will change colors. However pearl is not mixed into clear coat. It’s mixed as part of the base, or applied over base with a carrier agent then clear coated over.

My car has TONS of Silver & Blue pearl in the base coat, so it is very dynamic in the sun/shade. Here’s a couple pics under different conditions.

But if you’re talking about the “Mystic”, or Chamilion” type paints that roll from Blue to Purple to Gold etc. they are a very special base mix and cost in the neighborhood of $700-$900 a quart

Man stroked your car is nice as hell and looks right at home in front of that gas station.

Im having my 67 coupe painted right now at Maaco, I must say Im a little disapointed in the color I picked out, Its an 04 Mazda color (Ford) called Firemist Red Metallic.

They just sprayed the interior panels, trunk and underhood, and the paint job is great but unfortunatly the color is very bright, has a slight goldish hue to it, even though theres no gold in the formula, but the painter said it has lots of pearl and flake in it so it almost overwhelms the red.

Its nice but not red enough to match the seats, which compared to this firery color, almost looks pinkish red.

So when they do the final sanding on the outside he said he will tint the sealer a little darker and add some more red to the formula, to try to get it closer to the interior color, so tuesday Ill have to go see.

But pearls are tricky, so Im thinkin that when all is said and done with all the trim on and TT 2's the car will still look good.
