petcock in engine block drain holes - bad idea?

Too good of a chance for leaks. I wouldn't.

I thinking about putting a couple radiator style petcocks in my 2 engine block drain holes. Is this a good or bad idea?

I considered that - but how often do radiators leak out of there petcocks? I don't really know that to be a problem.

I just pulled mine the other day, and the drivers side was a pain, getting coolant all over the place. Big pain.

I've had them on mine for 10yrs now, never a problem

If you get a copper (or the same material that is used as coolant plug) than it may be alright. I was just thinking about the plastic one in the rad. That wouldn't be a good idea to thread into the coolant drain hole.

i have one on the pass side of my block.. makes for easy block draining in a hurry.. Works awsome, and has never leaked.
I use a copper/brass looking one

put them on a year ago when i installed the alum. radiator. works fine, no problems.

block has 2 allen head screws to drain the block.... i just take them out when drainin.
