I know I have not posted anything in the last year or so, I have been away doing the college thing. On July 5th, around 5:30pm I was in a head on collision. My Mustang "PhantomGT" was totaled. Some young girl dropped her cell phone, and decided to take her eyes off the road for a few seconds. Her car came right at me, and I tried to avoid her but we crashed. I was going about 25 when we hit, she was going 30mph. My Doctors say I have whiplash, and I should start feeling better in a few weeks.

The Mustang held up well in the crash, the crimple zones did their job. There was enough kinetic energy passing through the car to put a dent in the roof of the Mustang. I am however very upset that my car – which I have put so much money and time into over the last 7 years – is a total loss. My insurance company called me today and told me they can give me a check for $11,260 for it (nowhere near the number I feel it is worth)

I do have a good lawyer on my case, hopefully we will settle out of court in a few months. As for a replacement car, I am still up in the air. I really want a Lexus IS, but something more economical is needed.

I will keep yall posted

I know how much it sucks to have a wreck, my RED98 was wrecked 1 week before Christmas in 2000. It wasn't totalled, obviously, but you feel really upset about it for like a week afterwards. And I wasn't even injured in mine.
BUT, about that lexus... I'd look at an '05 or up Mustang GT before a lexus.

This is one reason why I keep all of my stock parts. If my car were ever wrecked, I'm putting all the stock stuff back on, and putting all the new stuff in the garage until I get a replacement car. There is no way an insurance company would give me anything close to value of the parts that are on the car.

But it's good to hear that you're okay. It sucks to lose a car, but it's nothing compared to losing a friend or family member.

That's what I did when my '01 was totalled. I didn't have much into the car; but I pulled the Mach I grille delete, and my sound system and put the stock stuff back. The only loss was the dual exhaust, but the insurance money I got wasn't bad for a 5-year old V6 Mustang with 80k-miles.

People who drive and talk on cellphones should be destroyed. Slowly and painfully. Sorry about your car... Glad you're alright.

You said it was in a head on collision? The front of the car didnt seem that bad, at least your ok. But the car seems like a good shop could salvage it. I have seen much worse and a good shop made it look as if nothing ever happened. Cradle was shifted back I could tell that from the pic but nothing that cant be fixed. Insurance companies just total out cars if the damage seems like its over 60% then the car is worth, never means that the car cant be fixed though. Just my $0.02

I have my cloth seats, 15 inch triangle wheels, plastic steering wheel, original headlights, and original window/HVAC controls stored in case my car ever gets munched. The only thing I wouldn't be able to do anything about is the Flowmasters.. they stay with the car. But, I would definitely take my new Cobra seats with me.
