i'm with tom on this one, my pi intake isn't squared up on the outside either. The biggest difference when i had mine next to each other was the runner size and shape. The PI runners were larger on the outside and were longer with longer bends, compared to the NPI with narrower runners and were not as long and swept.

I understand what he is saying. He is talking about the first runner behind the coolant pass over. The NPI intake's first runner goes to the passenger side head, the PI intake's first runner goes to the driver's side head. Probably the easiest way to tell which intake is on the car.

Pull off the plenum, if you have a 1 piece gasket that goes between the manifold and plenum you have npi, if the gasket goes into a groove in the intake manifold then you have pi.

You had better take a closer look at your photo. There is 3 runners clearly in view and the 4th one, the one that is hidden by the alternator bracket and EGR tube is the front one. Where does that one lead to? The passenger side.

Just to clarify:

Look at the photo posted by tomustang and gearbanger101 for NPI intakes. Where the air enters the intake from the TB and upper intake, there should be 4 runners in front of that air opening and 4 behind. Ford as far as I know, never did use a 3 in front and 5 behind. Now if you look at the closest one to where the air enters, the PI goes to the passenger side head and the NPI goes to the driver side head. In the pic posted by tomustang this one goes the the driver side head as it should for a NPI intake. The runners alternated, always. That being said, again looking at tomustang's NPI photo you clearly see the rear 3 of the front 4 runners.

You're gonna milk that one for a while, aren't you?

OK you douche nozzels. I'm going out to my parents place tomorrow and have both a non-PI and a PI sitting inside the garage. I'll set them side by side and take a picture of them together to clear this up!
