Hey Guys, I started a poll on another site and it's pretty much split down the middle with a few suggestions. I thought I would try you guys to see what you think I should put on my 67. I have struggled for almost a year to pick something for this car. I want something different but I still want it to fit the car and the look. Please pick one of these options and feel free to comment or make suggestions. If you want to see more pictures of the car to get a better idea of the look of the car, see my fquick page at the bottom. Thanks for your help.

Personally I think that the Boze wheel is just a tad too "bling".
IMO the GT7 wheel is the nicest and most impressive looking wheel but I feel like the Sparks will look the best ON YOUR CAR as they would fit the look of the car well.
In the end I don't think you will go wrong with any of those wheels on your car...your car is just that impressive!

I guess I am just to old. I have been playing with classic Mustangs since I was 14 with my buddy after school. That was 22 years ago. Wheels larger than 15 inch and sidewalls less than 3 inch look like crap on the classics. You want 18 to 20 inch rims... get a Honda. No offence just another opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not running 20" rims, I will be running 18's. Some guys are stuck in the 60's, 70's or 80's, times change and so does trends. If you like classics but you want modern performance, you have to change. You arn't going to get morder brakes, handling etc... with 15" rims. I think it's good that we all have different taste and opinions. If we all liked the same stuff, had the same opinions, the world would be a pretty dull place.

I don't know about that. My son's 2002 Mustang has 17 inch rims with some really big meats on all fours. My 67 has 15 inch rims with a slightly less wide tire (50 series) on all fours and I can take corners a lot harder than he can. Of course having a third pedal helps a lot too.

I am sure their are guys out there running 15"s that handle well. You have to look at all aspects of the car. The type of tires you run will make a huge difference in most cases. The 02's handle ok assuming you're talking about a GT or Cobra but I would not call them a great handling car and they're not the best at stoping either. What suspension are you running under your 67? It would have to be a pretty good set up if you really can corner harder than either of the cars above. I know my car can't right now the way it sits. Let me know your set up, I'm curious to hear what you have.

Let me know your set up, I'm curious to hear what you have.
245R50x15s on all four, Koni shocks, 620 springs on the front, Shelby lower control arms, sway bars front and rear, nothing really spectacular, but as stated before, having a manual transmission with a limited slip 3.25 rear end helps a lot. My son's Mustang is only a V6, but with 40 series tires and new Eibach lowering springs. His main drawback is it is a slushbox trans.
DJ You are right some guys are stuck in the past. You don't see Foose using 14's or 15's. To each his own!! I been playin with these stangs since some here were in kindergarden and I'm saying those 18s are sweet. However, in a dated, looks like everybody else's car way, those 14s and 15 are nice too.
I couldn't agree more. I enjoy seeing all kinds and syles of Mustang's. My father has owned this car since 1969, it's been mine since I was a little boy. I've been around them for a while as well. When I speak of handling and braking, a late model V6 Mustang is not what I'm talking about. If it's a late model GT or Cobra, they handle ok but not great either. Trust me, I would be happy with something comparable to either of those two but I'm really look for more. Your ride sounds like it would be a blast to drive. Enjoy.

You are correct. I believe it's also a race tire that they use as well that you or I can't run on a street car. Thanks for letting me know what they run. Of the million times I've been in the pit's with the crew's, I don't think I knew that one. You were very helpful.

I voted for the spark as well. It has a little more 'meat' to it than pic 1. I like pic 3 as well, but I think the spark looks the best of the 3. I love the stance of your car, dje. I think you could pull it off w/ any of those wheels. What model and size wheels and tires do you have on it now, and do you have any other pics? (EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed you link the the fquick page.) I'd love to see the stance from some different angles, and to know about your susp. setup.
I don't dislike the 17's and 18's on classics. I just think it depends on how well they mesh w/ the overall car. I just don't like it when the car looks overdone, or when it looks like someone shelled out 2K for wheels and tires and paid no other attention to the car.

Thanks a lot. The suspension is GW springs, upper and lower tubular control arms . I did relocate the upper control arms per the Shelby spec. I'm still running leafs in the back but they are custom. I have a FR rack up front as well. The wheels on the car right now are 17x9.5 and 17x7's TTII's. I also have Wilwood brakes with the vented/drilled rotors. The vented rotors are not installed yet. I am probably going to go with the Sparks in a brushed polised finish. the inner parts of the wheel will be brushed and the rest polished.

Well, last I knew, they made road race tires in other sizes than 17's & 18's. I don't see any numbers on that car and there is no cage in it, so I don't see it going to the SCCA to run, or even in the American Iron series.
What's wrong with the TTII's? It looks nice the way it is.
You talk about being different, seems to me everyone is putting 17's-20's on their cars, sounds like being part of the crowd instead of standing out. 18" wheels sill have more unsprung weight than a 15" or 16" wheel, performance-wise. If it's just a show car, I guess whatever size you want is fine.
Used to be the monochromatic look and directional wheels were the 'in thing', just like in a high fiber diet, this too shall pass. My take on these classics is to make the car look timeless, the wheels you have on it now do that. I really like the cloth top look, but it's sorta borderline as far as timeless goes. I don't think any of those three wheels look timeless.

Look a little closer at the car, it does have a cage and it will see some track events. The car is a cruiser/track/show car. It will mainly be street driven and I'm not running R compound road race tires on the car for normal driving. As to the car looking like others, I would disagree. Most Mustang guys don't mod their car to the point I have. They are chalk mark guys that prefer stock or light mods with 15" wheels and stock looks. If the do mod, they typically run CenterLine wheels, or some type of dated Crager mag, lift the rear so the balance of the car is so far out of wack it doesn't know if it's taking off or stoping. Times change, styles change, that's a good thing. We go through different phases in our life and our cars do the same. Are you wearing the same style of cloths you did back when you were a young man? I hope not but either way, enjoy what you have and I will mine.
