Picked up my Vista today, Also Ford chose my car to beat on

I think what Ford generally does during the sample test is:
1. Review the build sheet and assembly quality, auditing and scoring teams on shift that day. Problems with assembly generate immediate feedback.
2. Roadtest the vehicle over test loop, checking for NVH, water leaks, braking, steering, shifting etc.

this is performed on all vehicles

3. Run the engine up to about 6500 RPM and hold it there for about 30 seconds. They then check the operating temp, and give the car a full diagnostic check.

this is performed on all vehicles-rolls test

4. Then they sit in your car and smoke a hand-rolled "cigarette" to see if the ashtray works.
5. Followed by a high speed run to the nearest liquor store. This is a timed exercise - audit team manager waits at the curb and starts drinking two beers. The run to the liquor store and back (10 miles) must be made before he sees the bottom of can number two.
6. Doughnuts are then performed in front of the nearest high school.


I might be wrong about this list, of course (at least part of it). If anyone has anything to add it would be great.

that vista with the 18" wheels is AMAZING. If i was to buy a new GT i would be so torn between Vista, Windveil and Legend Lime but all would surely have the 18" wheels.

Consider yourself lucky. Your car has been gone over with a fine tooth comb. If any defects were found, they were taken care right there at the factory before the car was released. Quality wise your car should be one of the best Mustangs out there. I would be very happy to find that sticker on any new car that I purchased.

Ford did the same thing with the 03/04 Cobra's...... they even left a certificate to honor the occassion in the glove box. Mine had 27 miles (courtesy SVT) when I took delivery. Knock on wood, I have gone well over 10K trouble free miles (and thats not driving like grandma LOL)

Not sure how I would feel about a QC on my new ride. So torn on having a good car, but on the other hand, I want to do most of the initial break-in. I guess someone has always driven the car before us in the first place, guess it doesnt hurt that it was someone who was being objective when they did it looking for problems with a trained eye. I dont think I would be upset I guess if it happened to me, but a small percentage of my "fire" with the new car might have been extinguished... Oh well, I guess I will see when I take delivery of one late next year...
