my 86 GT finally done! Updated Pics at the bottom

This car has been one heck of a project. I bought it on April 5th 2003, and Just put the bran new interior in it the other day to finish it off. The car was beat and totally abused. I bought this thing in CA "for 1200 bucks" and drove it back to AZ with only 3 gears "3rd 4th and 5th only" The old T5 was trashed and now the car sports a Tremec 3550. The guy who I bought it from tried to do some body work, but just made big mistakes with primer and body filler and some dents he tried to pull. So I busted out the trusty DA and took the car down almost to bare metal and did all the body work and paint myself. I trashed the interior and bought a complete mint condition 86 SVO interior. New carpet, and dash pad to set it off, along with 88 GT hatch panels in the rear. I bought the rims used from AMP for 400 and riding on Fulda 255/55R16's. Just wanted to share the history on this car. I'm currently making a website just for it from start to finish.

Nice job Would also like to say it's nice to see these from time to time as opposed to "wrecked my car; pics" LOL.

Nice car..

.. But some part of your beauty is missing.. ( the front..)
Seems to be a nice car, and keep it mostly stock on the outside... just my opinion.
U doesnt see a nice -86 so often this days ! GOOD LUCK !

Very Nice job.

My '85 looked exactly as your 86 did when you started...maybe even a little worse. I got the motor done now time to make the car look good!

Wow! Excellent job!!!

For some reason I pictured your car with a set of them ROH 17" 5 spoke rims on it... The Ponies look real nice but the first thing that hit me were them ROH wheels when I saw the finsihed pic...

The Interior is pretty done now, except I need the windows adjusted so the door panels arent in right now and i'm still waiting on my kenwood deck. The steering wheel with the horn button is missing because Yeah i'll admit I got pissed off at the car when I coudlnt fit the gauge cluster in so i punched the wheel and broke the horn and center cap, "DONT LOSE YOUR TEMPER" because now I gotta buy a new wheel "plan on getting a MOMO fighter wheel" but Heres some more pics though. I got the RED 5.0 badges from 5.0resto.com along with a 99+ GT badge for the rear hatch. I know its not the real 86 GT Badge "which is just a vinyl sticker" but I think it looks pretty good. Next thing on the list is the suspension along with a 5 Lug conversion and a Set of Gunmetal Gray Cobra R's. Engine is bone stock and is really dirty right now so i'll clean it and post some pics. Anyone In AZ i'm interested in joining a club or starting a east valley club or whatever. Now that the car looks nice I wanna go cruise with some other ponys and make some mustang friends, since my friends drive everything but fords "they dont know what there missing" But if someone wants to go cruise or whatever lemme know.

Body Work is done time for some self etch primer before the filler primer. First pic is before the self etching primer and the 2nd pic is the 1st coat of filler primer. Thats my younger brother masking off my tops and the windows on the beast. and my dad in the background.
