Well, I bought the front piece off my friend that owns a shelby (he didn't want it anymore). I still needed to do some trimming to make it sit flush. And the cowl hood is a piece from a group out in Florida, I can't remember for the life of me the name, it was the most inexpensive 3" hood i could find even with shipping. But like they even list in their add for the hood....it's not show quality...there's a good deal of sanding and block sanding the sides...I painted the hood a satin black....it's glossier than primer, but isn't a gloss finish...my ratrod touch if you will.
Weight savings...everything i could find in aluminum motor parts i used except the block itself. JE forged pistons, manley H-beam rods, aluminum heads/intake/waterpump/roller rockers. I took out the A/C system, fiberglass hood(not steel reinforced),fiber.front piece, no back seat, 8" axle (aluminum currie 3rd member)...oh ya small wheels and tires (makes a remarkable difference)....so that's basically that. I am leaning towards a roll cage, so that would add some weight.
